Rebuilding My Devotional Life in Christ Jesus

John 2

And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me
up. (John 2:17 KJV)

Are we zealous for the Lord Jesus Christ? What shows? How are we responsive to the Church we attend? It is unfortunate that many of us young people today are more concerned about the things of the world than we are of the things of God. We give more attention to our education, our dressing, our friends, our image on social media and our food more than we do God. It is no secret that whatever commands our attention determines what we desire and eventually where we end up. In John 2, we see the Lord Jesus Christ showing us that the way to the rest and best of God is to be zealous for God. When we are zealous for the Lord, we attend Church
services early. When we are zealous for the Lord, we do what the word of God says. When we are zealous for the Lord, we are always looking for ways to pray more and to study the word of God more.

Child of God, if we are going to experience all the blessing that God has promised us in His word, we must redirect our zeal from the world unto God. For where our zeal is that is where our love is and if our love is not for God then we are in big trouble as 1 John 2:15-17 says.

Prayer

Father God, I pray for the grace to turn away from the world. Fill my heart with desire for you and your house. I ask all this in Jesus’ name.
